The Scriptures

Do not worry about what you will eat or what you will drink.

Can you explain why did Jesus said this to the people on the mount with him?  and why it is recorded for us?

Whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

Can you explain what Paul meant when he said this, to a level where you feel good about your explanation, without too many misgivings and apprehensions?

Why is Scripture so difficult to understand? Why do ten different people give ten different explanations?

Scripture is so difficult  to understand!

Wanting to be a structural engineer but reading books on history means we will never build a bridge that stands up.

Scripture was written by people who did it. They wrote to tell us how they did it so we would know how to do it ourselves. The connection to them is in doing what they did, not in reading what they did. Reading history is not the same thing as making it.

God preserved their writings for these thousands of years to serve as an example to us, and to warn us, on whom he has placed the responsibility of the ends of the ages.

We must finish the race. The fact that they finished does not mean we are at the end too.

Reading Scripture gives us no way to understand why or how they did it: it only tells us what they did. If you truly want to understand, do it. There's no other way.
