A stringer is molten glass that is pulled  thin. It is not difficult to make one that is 4 or 5mm thick, but drawing glass to a fine thread requires exacting heat, skill, and patience. The slightest misstep and it is no longer a stringer: it is just broken glass.

Samuel ruled Israel from the period of the judges to the establishment of the kingdom. He is one of the few figures in God's history who finished the work without a misstep. He stands with Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Nehemiah as servants of God who stayed in the center of their very difficult path.

It is good to set our sights high. God has given us histories of people he considers worthy to lead us to him.

It is good to let God make something extremely fine of you. It will take time and it will hurt. Stay in the heat until you have been thinned to a baby's hair. You might take it too far and break. If that happens, give him better glass to work with and do it again.
