​Molten glass is crafted into shape by a delicate balance of temperature, tension, and placement. It is largely true that glass artistry is studying glass to know how to it responds to your coaxing. Yes, molten glass can be put into a mold and forced into shape, but that is used mostly in mass production.

Glass is often most beautiful while it is glowing hot, before it becomes what it will be.

Stained glass windows are made of glass that is intentionally not processed to perfection. The imperfections play with the light so it is new every time you look into it.

The function of the furnace is to melt the sand. The function of the sand is to become glass. The function of the glass is to be magnificent. The lesson of the salt and light stands at the door. What good is sand that refuses the furnace? What good is glass that will not be formed?
